Standards, Methods
and Curriculum
• Standards
ACTFL-Based
ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) standards
and guidelines in teaching foreign languages have been typically used
in the design of center’s pedagogy. Aldiwan Center’s APT (Arabic
Proficiency Test), which is our placement test, is based on ACTFL
standards too.
• Methods
Audio- Lingual Method
Based on both practical hands-on experience and studies of theories in
foreign language learning, Aldiwan Center built its method of teaching
on the Audio-Lingual method with a communicative approach, which is
based on the behaviorist theory of learning.
• Curriculum
A. Arabic for the World Textbooks Series
This is a a series of integrated curriculum for teaching Arabic to
speakers of other languages, which is used in Aldiwan Center as
textbooks. They are now widely used in small/medium sized centers in
Cairo for teaching Arabic as a foreign language.

Organization for Education, Sciences, and Culture.
Note: Some organizations have a pre-selected textbook that they like
their students to study from. If this is your case, your organization
needs to arrange that with the administration, if approved, teaching
the new curriculum may involve extra fees.
